How to embody this word
What does empowered look like in daily life?
To embody empowerment is to claim ownership of your choices and direction rather than waiting for circumstances or others to dictate your path. It means recognizing your inherent ability to influence outcomes, even when situations feel uncertain or overwhelming. Empowered individuals make intentional decisions and seek knowledge or resources to strengthen their agency.

Putting this quality into practice
Riley used to leave medical appointments remembering only half of what was said. This time Riley brings a notebook, a list of questions and a friend on speakerphone. When the explanation becomes rushed, Riley says, ‘Please slow down. I want to understand my options before deciding.’ Being empowered is not knowing more than the expert. It is remembering the decision still belongs to the person living with it.
Tomorrow will offer another chance to choose a more empowered response. Today can be rehearsal.
