Excitement
An emotion that arises from anticipation of something positive.
Why do I feel this way?
Excitement builds when something desired feels near (a dream, an experience, a connection).
It energizes the mind and body to prepare for a moment of joy.
Excitement signals hope and readiness.
How to change or channel it
- Focus it: Pick one small step to prepare for what's coming.
- Share your excitement, enthusiasm grows when expressed.
- Ground yourself with calming breaths if excitement turns into overwhelm.
- Let excitement remind you that life still holds things worth waiting for.

Living with this feeling
Original Lantern Project guidance inspired by this topic. This section is not copied from the source book.
Sam notices excitement when several demands begin competing for attention. Instead of judging the feeling or forcing it away, Sam names what is present and chooses one supportive practice: focus it: Pick one small step to prepare for what's coming.. The feeling may still be there, but it is no longer the only voice directing the moment. Sam has created enough space to choose what comes next with greater care.
“I can acknowledge excitement without letting it define every part of me. I can listen to what it may be showing me and choose one caring next step.”
What might excitement be asking me to notice, protect, accept, express, or change today?
