Why Do I Feel This Way... And How To Change It
Fear
An emotion that arises from perceiving threat or danger.
Why do I feel this way?
What does fear mean?
Fear activates when your mind or body senses a possible threat to safety, love, success, identity, or belonging.
It's a survival instinct designed to protect you but it can sometimes misfire when no real danger exists.
How to change or channel it
What can help right now?
- Acknowledge fear without shame as it's trying to protect you.
- Ask"Is the threat real right now or imagined?"
- Break action into smaller steps to stay grounded.
- Use fear as a prompt to prepare wisely not to paralyze yourself.

Living with this feeling
Cameron sits in the car outside the imaging center with the appointment reminder glowing on the dashboard. Fear has turned the automatic doors into the edge of a cliff. Cameron calls a friend and says, ‘Talk to me until I reach the desk.’ They discuss ordinary things: laundry, lunch, a terrible television finale. The doors open. Fear comes inside too, but it does not get to make Cameron enter alone.
Let fear be information today. You are allowed to notice it without judging yourself or rushing it away.
What helped soften fear before, even briefly? Which part of that support could still help you?
